Many of us have at least one major vision. Like Jacob, plenty of us have received a vision from God. This I gather from the book of Genesis, the 28th chapter. Upon reaching verse 22, I realize, if we have a vision from God, this season should not pass us by. After Jacob received his vision, he didn’t let his chance go by without acknowledgement.
18 The next morning Jacob got up very early. He took the stone he had rested his head against, and he set it upright as a memorial pillar. Then he poured olive oil over it. 19 He named that place Bethel (which means “house of God”), although it was previously called Luz.
20 Then Jacob made this vow: “If God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey, and if he will provide me with food and clothing, 21 and if I return safely to my father’s home, then the LORD will certainly be my God. 22 And this memorial pillar I have set up will become a place for worshiping God, and I will present to God a tenth of everything he gives me.” – Genesis 28:18-22 NLT
When we receive a vision from God, it is important to erect a stone/pillar or memorial in line with the vision that God has given us. A memorial in this case is simply an object you keep as a reminder of what God revealed to you; it marks this event. Do you have a God-given vision? If yes, have you a memorial? I have found that it is necessary to have a memorial because a lot of times, we forget what God has told us. When the storm comes, we sometimes look at the detours and doubt what God has called us to.
So here are some reasons setting up a memorial is important.
- This speaks to you of a new beginning
- This brings you to a time/place of renewal of personal commitments
- This serves as a reminder of what God has done and promised to do
- This serves as your testimony of God’s faithfulness to the lost
When God says something, there is octane energy in those words. Those words have supernatural potency. Though aged and barren, you can become a father of many. Though there is famine, you can still plant and harvest a hundred-fold. Though poor, you can become lender to many nations. Though living in the projects, you can become a property-owner in the suburbs.
Upon the release of the vision comes the season of planning but planning will soon become work. Every time you receive a vision from God, it will become work. After planning, you will encounter detours, barriers and dead-ends. But continue shouting the shout of victory because the devil only eats those who are dead. Those who are alive and on fire cannot be consumed by the devil. They are too hot to handle. As long as you are fighting, the devil will flee.
Be very confident of this: God carries a banner that says, “victory” over your life; therefore you cannot give up. And if you will not give up you must learn how to fight on these 2 fronts:
- You have to know how to fight on the spiritual level – prayer and fasting
- You have to know how to fight on the physical level – prophecy and declaration
Your vision will definitely come to pass because you’re with God, and with Him all things are possible.
For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hasteth toward the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay. – Habakkuk 2:3 ASV
God is on your side!
